The Black Swan Beauty team is lead by their fearless leader, Veronica. She has been doing hair and makeup for eleven years. She absolutely radiates passion and knowledge for all things wedding beauty and you can really feel it in the Black Swan team experience – while in the hair and makeup chair and in the helpful tips they share along the way!
Black Swan Beauty serves both Indianapolis, Indiana and Nashville, Tennessee and offers on site wedding hair and makeup services. The team is made up of eleven strong, fully licensed artists. Each team member receives ongoing training and education to ensure they are up to date on the latest trends and techniques and maintain the best equipment and well rounded skillset. The Black Swan team is diverse and dynamic and they celebrate all hair and skin types.
When to Schedule Your Appointment
When it comes to scheduling your wedding day hair and makeup, it can be tempting to wait until closer to your date. But the most sought after hair and makeup artists in Indianapolis, like Black Swan Beauty, book six to twelve months in advance. Booking this far in advance ensures that the Black Swan Beauty team is available on your date but there are some other reasons you’ll want to look into booking hair and makeup now.
Scheduling now is a huge perk if you’d like to book a specific artist by request, which many brides do. This allows you to have your first choice for your artist. It also allows for the Black Swan Beauty team to make sure that they can send multiple artists depending on your party size and timeline needs. Additionally, some venues only allow use of the bridal suite so many hours before your ceremony, which might mean hair and makeup needs to be done off sight. (You’ll want to plan for hair and makeup to be complete four hours before ceremony if you are sharing a first look before your ceremony and three hours before ceremony if you are not) Booking early ensures that your beauty team has availability to travel to you, wherever you are!
Engagement Photos
We encourage all of our brides to schedule professional hair and makeup for their engagement session if you’ve scheduled one with us. There’s just a certain magic to having the perfect hair and makeup and we are all about capturing it in your photos! This is a great opportunity to work with your wedding day hair and makeup artist soon after booking. While this is not the same as a trial for your wedding for a few reasons (you’ll probably want a slightly different look for these photos, wedding day makeup is more formal etc) it’s a wonderful way to get to know the team and get familiar with the way they work!
Black Swan Beauty offers packages where you can bundle glam for your engagement session with your wedding services and trials so if this is something you’d like to do, be sure to mention it at booking with them!
Let’s Talk Trials
It’s best to schedule your trial about six weeks before your wedding day. This allows you to really settle on the exact look you want as tastes and preferences change from time to time. Plus this look will be fresh in your mind which really helps you visualize your wedding day look! Finally, scheduling your trial for six weeks before your wedding can help Black Swan Beauty ensure the artist who performs your trials is the same artist performing your services on your wedding day.
As far as inspiration photos go, Veronica and the team welcome them! In fact, they are encouraged! Inspiration photos help the artist get a clear picture of what you like and determine any adjustments that they can make to most align with the style you like. Or just make it something unique to you!
Black Swan Beauty has a studio in Northern Indianapolis where trials take place so that you have a safe and comfortable environment to relax in while the Black Swan Beauty team does their thing!

One of my favorite things about working with Black Swan is how they somehow manage to find the most beautiful parts of each bride and enhance it! Whenever I have a Black Swan Beauty bride in front of my camera (which is often) her outer and inner beauty radiates.. and that is something really wonderful if you ask me. They really specialize in allowing you to be the most elegant version of yourself, while still looking like yourself which is so important.
