Several years ago I discovered the Cake Bake Shop completely by accident. But from the second I stepped foot inside, I knew I had just stumbled upon something positively incredible! The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers is a true landmark in Indianapolis. So if you’re visiting this little circle city of ours, it’s an absolute MUST that you see it for yourself!
Carmel Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers

The Carmel Cake Bake Shop location is the newer of the two, but don’t let that fool you! This little sister shop has big dreams and it shows! Gwendolyn and the crew have put so much love into the design and experience of the Carmel location. It’s become and icon all it’s own! With whimsical decor and a polished presentation, it transports you out of the real world and into your own little fairytale, if only for an afternoon. From the signature (and delicious) cake and drinks dusted with edible glitter to the delicious menu, there is something here for everyone.
If you’re visiting Indianapolis, you’ll want to add The Cake Bake Shop to your itinerary. And if you’re a local? It’s the perfect spot for lunch with your bridesmaids after wedding dress shopping or an extra special date night. Whatever the reason, you need to go! Just be sure to make reservations first!
Some people look up to athletes or famous musicians. But as a small business owner, I look up to the owners of creative businesses who are absolutely rocking it. And let me tell you, Gwendolyn is one of them! I could see her attention to detail, hard work and passion for what she does just through visiting The Cake Bake Shop. With out ever meeting her she inspired me for years! So having the opportunity to get to know her and hear her stories about growing her business was amazing. She is the real deal and the kind of business owner this girl loves to support!

Broadripple Cake Bake Shop
The Broadripple Cake Bake Shop is a classic favorite. After all, it is the first! Believe it or not, this now adorable cottage was once just a run down house. But Gwendolyn started from scratch (haha, pun totally intended) and with one employee by her side renovated it and opened up shop! These days, there is an entire crew hard at work in the kitchen kneading, stirring, baking and creating. But once upon time the booming business that it is now was just a dream.
While the Carmel location is a tad bigger, Broadripple still packs a punch! Sip afternoon tea at a table in the corner and it will feel like you’ve just been transported to England. Keep your eyes peeled for hidden magic, like fairies and unicorns. Try my personal favorite, the Pexi Fetti cake or grab a lemon bar to go!
Afternoon tea reservations can be made on The Cake Bake Shop’s website here.

Wether you plan to sip a latte on the patio at the Broadripple location or celebrate your friend’s recent engagement tucked in a booth under one of the sparkling chandeliers in Carmel, The Cake Bake Shop is truly an experience. So get dressed up and make a day of it!
