A note to the bride: This guide is meant for the groom! If you want to avoid any surprises, now’s the time to stop reading!

Your wedding day is one of the most meaningful days of your life, and while the focus is often on the bride’s preparations, there are plenty of things you can do to make the day even more special—for both of you. Beyond just looking sharp, this guide is about mentally preparing for the day, ensuring you’re present in each moment, and making sure your bride feels deeply loved.

Thoughtful Gestures That Will Mean the World to Her

Write Her a Letter – Taking a few moments to put your feelings on paper will mean more than you can imagine. Keep it handwritten—it makes it more personal. Share what you love about her, your excitement for the day, and what you’re most looking forward to in your marriage. If you need ideas, consider:

  • The moment you knew she was the one
  • What you admire most about her
  • Your dreams for your future together
  • A promise or personal vow just for her

Give Her a Meaningful Gift – This doesn’t have to be expensive, but something sentimental that she’ll have for years to come. A piece of jewelry, a handwritten book of reasons you love her, or a keepsake from a special moment in your relationship will remind her of this day forever. (Here is one of our personal favorites.)

Take a Moment for Just the Two of You – Whether it’s a first look or a quiet moment after the ceremony, make sure you have time to soak in the day together.

Setting the Tone for Your Groomsmen

Lead by Example – Your groomsmen will follow your lead. If you’re calm, collected, and focused on enjoying the moment, they will be too.

If You’re Worried About Rowdiness, Say Something – If you have groomsmen who like to party, consider talking with them ahead of time to keep things respectful—especially before the ceremony.

Make Sure Everyone is Ready – Remind your groomsmen to try on their suits before the wedding day so they have time for any last-minute alterations. And don’t forget to remind them to bring undershirts, socks, and any accessories they’re responsible for!

The Week Before the Wedding

Try on Your Suit & Shoes – Don’t assume everything fits! Try on your full wedding-day outfit, including shoes, at least a week before the wedding to make sure everything is comfortable and properly tailored.

Get a Fresh Haircut – A week before is ideal so it looks natural by the wedding day.

Groom Your Facial Hair – Whether it’s a professional trim or a clean shave, a polished look makes a difference.

Hydrate & Take Care of Your Skin – Drink plenty of water and moisturize to keep your skin fresh for photos.

The Wedding Day Mindset

Be Present – The day will go by faster than you think. Take a deep breath and enjoy each moment as it comes.

Don’t Rush Through the First Look or Aisle Moment – Whether you do a first look or see her for the first time at the altar, take a second to really take her in. This is a moment you’ll never forget.

Hold the Kiss for a Few Extra Seconds – It helps ensure the perfect photo!

Take Time to Eat & Stay Hydrated – You’ll need energy for the long day ahead, so don’t skip meals.

Let Go of the Little Things – Not everything will go perfectly, and that’s okay. The most important thing is that at the end of the day, you’ll be married.

Your wedding day is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and the best way to enjoy it is to be fully present, make your bride feel cherished, and celebrate this incredible moment together.

We can’t wait to capture every moment for you!

We hope this guide helps you feel confident and prepared for your big day! If you found these tips helpful, share them with your groomsmen or any friends who are getting married soon. And if you have any questions about wedding photography or how to make your day stress-free, we’d love to chat—reach out anytime!
