Our plane touched down in Phoenix just before midnight. A few hours later we were back in our rental car, driving along an empty Phoenix highway. The sun slowly lighting up the dark desert sky. As we pulled into the mostly empty parking lot I could see Cristen and Josh in the distance. I’d never met them before but thanks to a phone call spent laughing with Cristen, I knew we were in for a great morning. Their Phoenix engagement session was one of my very favorites and I am thrilled to share it with you!

This was my third trip to Phoenix and arguably my favorite. But it wasn’t the proximity to Dutch Bros Coffee, which was amazing by the way. It was spending time with Cristen and Josh. After the phone call that I mentioned above, I already knew that Cristen and I were a lot alike. Our shared love of animals knows no bounds so we were instantly friends. Josh is quiet at first, and a natural born leader. But his dry humor and quick wit kept me frequently giggling behind my camera.

These two have been together for a good while and as we explored the rocky terrain, investigating saguaros and sharing stories, I saw how perfect they are together. They have both somehow found the perfect blend of being highly driven and incredibly laid back. They’re easy to be around. And even though we had just met officially for the very first time that morning, it felt more like we were exploring the desert with old friends.
