Mariah and Mikey
Mariah and Mikey’s beautiful rainy wedding was such a stand out for us this year! On top of the fact that they are a super fun and laid back couple, Mariah is an extra special bride here at AMP. She was actually one of my first clients! Several years ago, I photographed Mariah’s senior portraits. So it was really great to reconnect and photograph her wedding too!
Special Touches
Mariah and Mikey planned for several special details for their wedding day. Wedding details may seem small, but I love how they add to the story of the day and are easily some of the most unique elements we see at weddings. Mariah wore her mom’s earrings down the aisle and her ring box? Each of her sisters have the same one. They found three together and decided that it was meant to be! Mariah even carried the very bonnet she wore home from the hospital as a handkerchief. And don’t forget the invitations! Mariah designed them herself!
Getting Ready
Mariah and Mikey tied the knot at her childhood home so when it came time to get ready, I thought it was extra special that she was able to put on her dress under the very roof that holds so many memories. Her mom, Lori, helped her into her stunning dress and just like that, Mariah transformed into a bride before our very eyes!
First Looks
After a very sweet first look with her dad, Mariah and Mikey shared a first look of their own. While they had not originally planned on seeing one another prior to the ceremony, the impending rain encouraged us to change things up a bit. And I am so glad we did! The grin on Mikey’s face when he turned around to see his bride was incredible!
Portraits
Following their first look, we were able to capture this adorable bride and groom with their stunning wedding arch. And that view! Wow! Zach and I have traveled all over, but there is just something special about the Indiana countryside. As we were finishing portraits of Mariah and Mikey, the rain began to fall. But these two took it in stride and grabbed a couple of clear umbrellas and kept going, hand in hand!
After waiting out the rain inside the house for a bit, a break in the storm gave us the perfect window to grab a few more photos! Mikey’s sweet mom helped him with the finishing touches of his wedding day look and his groomsmen looked so sharp in their bowties. We also grabbed a few photos with the bridesmaids and full bridal party before the rain returned.
Embracing the Rain
Mariah and Mikey’s ceremony was one of my favorites this year! Was it typical? No. Did it capture the joy these two share? It sure did! Did it remind everyone in attendance that at the end of the day, all that matters is that you are together and happy? Absolutely!
As Mariah’s dad walked her down the aisle, the rain found us once again. At first it was just a steady, even rain. But as the ceremony went on, the heavens opened up and it absolutely POURED! But instead of running for cover, Mariah and Mikey embraced the rain! They turned their faces towards the sky and smiled. They stood, soaked from head to toe, in front of their favorite people and said “I do” to the love of their life. It was amazing and so beautiful!
The Reception
The reception was held at Mikey’s family home, just a short drive away. Outside the tent, the rain fell in sheets. But inside? There was only joy to be found! Guests shared delicious tacos and margaritas before indulging in the yummy cupcakes that Mariah made with her mom. It was such a great celebration of two really wonderful people. We are so happy for you, Mariah and Mikey! Congratulations!
