While we were in Washington we kept busy photographing lots of amazing couples! But we also made sure to enjoy our time in Pacific Northwest to the fullest and loved our visit to Seattle! Here are some of our favorite gems in the Emerald City!

Home Away From Home

When we were planning out trip to Seattle I knew I wanted to stay somewhere unique. Seattle is such a quirky city so I was on a mission to find an Airbnb that reflected that. Lucky for me, I stumbled upon this private garden cottage that was just perfect! The owners were the absolute sweetest people, they even had bran muffins waiting on us when we arrived. The cottage is made from mostly recycled materials and felt like home right away! The best part? Some strange guy followed us inside and demanded a drink! He was so cute, we couldn’t tell him no!

Pioneer Square

You can be anywhere when the need for tacos hits, but you’d better hope it’s not at 2:00pm on a Saturday in Seattle! I had a list of adorable, colorful Mexican restaurants filled with natural light ready to go should the need for tacos arise, but when it did these places were all closed. As it turns out a lot of places in Seattle close between lunch and dinner and unfortunately they show no mercy to a tourist on the time change struggle bus. With a taco shaped hole in our hearts Zach and I decided to cheer ourselves up with some good old fashioned exploring. We found ourselves in an area of Seattle called Pioneer Square. It appears to be an up and coming neighborhood with several trendy businesses around every corner. One of our favorites was Lady Yum, a macaron bar that was super cute!

After we finished carefully selecting our macarons one of the Lady Yum team members pointed us in the direction of Casco Antiguo a nearby (and open) cantina where we finally found our tacos! And my friends, these just weren’t any tacos, these were THE BEST TACOS. I’m still dreaming about their salsa and the margaritas on tap.

The Space Needle

I think it’s probably impossible to go to Seattle and not be a little curious about the Space Needle. So we were pretty excited when one of our Seattle photo sessions took us right to it! While we didn’t go in the Space Needle (more on that in a minute) it was still really cool to see!

The Seattle Skyline from Kerry Park

I’m not sure if it’s the photographer in me or the bargain hunter, but I wasn’t interested in going to the top of the Space Needle. Instead, I had my sights set on Kerry Park! Kerry Park is a teeny tiny park located near the adorable Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle. You only have to endure an almost 90 degree hill and a million tiny roundabouts to get there, but it is worth it! The view of the city is breathtaking! Plus, from here your view includes the Space Needle and I was all about that! And if you’re lucky, your view (like mine) will also include several cats in backpacks. Seriously, what kind of magical place is Seattle anyway?

A Pinterest Worthy Accident

Sometimes when I can’t sleep at night I search Pinterest for pretty pictures of far away places so that I can visit them in my dreams. Seattle has graced my search bar numerous times over the years and somewhere buried deep on my travel boards you will find Bar Melusine. Is it because I like oysters? Nope. I really don’t. It’s because it’s just so pretty. Bar Melusine is filled with bright, beautiful light and my favorite colors. But to be honest I wasn’t expecting to end up there at all. But as we turned down a side street in Capitol Hill, there it was. We popped in for a quick drink before dinner and the awesome team allowed me to take a couple Pinterest worthy images of my own!

What Does it Take to Get a Drink in This Place?

If I had to pick one Seattle neighborhood that I loved most, it would absolutely be Capitol Hill. I’m all about inclusivity, acceptance and love for everyone and my goodness – it’s clear that Seattle feels the same way! There were even rainbow crosswalks! In addition to the overarching feeling of love pouring out of Capitol Hill’s sidewalks, buildings and residents there was art everywhere! You literally couldn’t even walk with out running into something creative and while I’m not really a city kind of girl, my heart felt at home here. Perhaps it has something to do with my maiden name being Denny. You see, one of the founding members of Seattle was named Arthur Denny and there are reminders of it everywhere in Seattle! I even have my own park! And yes, I absolutely did jump out of the car just to stand in Denny Park.

And just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, Zach and I found a bar totally dedicated to hard cider. Here in Indiana we are lucky to find one cider on tap, but Seattle had our backs. Cheers to that!
