I met Zayleigh’s mom, Aimee, years ago when we both worked retail. Our shifts often lined up and we made quite the dynamic duo. Aimee would always show me photos of her adorable baby as we straightened items on the shelves and cleaned up the store before heading home. Of course, it didn’t take long for us to form a plan for me to take photos of baby Zayleigh, who was only nine months old at the time. So we met at a nice park in town and I photographed sweet Zayleigh as she crawled around in the grass. I’ve been photographing her every year ever since.
On Sunday evening Zach and I met up with Morgan and Josh for their engagement photos in downtown Carmel. They recently moved to the area, so it only made sense to have their session in their new neighborhood. We explored a few different areas in the downtown Carmel area – starting with the Carmel Arts District and then wrapping up our session with some sunset photos at the Japanese Gardens just behind the Carmel courthouse. It was the perfect early fall evening and I am so glad that we got to spend it with Morgan and Josh!
When Michael and Travis first described their wedding day ideas to me over our initial FaceTime call, I did my best to imagine what their ceremony and reception might look like. But I never imagined the beauty that was in store as I walked through the front door of their gorgeous Indianapolis home on Saturday afternoon.
Nathan had a plan. McKenzie’s parents had gotten engaged while on a hike, so when he started forming his vision for how he would propose to McKenzie he knew that he wanted to do something similar and sentimental. So he planned a hike through the Smoky Mountains with some of their best friends, and everyone was in on it – except for McKenzie.
The Indianapolis Art Center was the perfect location for Travis and Michael’s engagement session! It was the first chilly day of the year, a welcome change from the sweltering heat that had been the norm in the days leading up to their session. It allowed all of to explore the grounds at ease, sharing stories and getting to know each other.
