When Kyle and Jennifer first told me that they had decided on having their wedding in Las Vegas on April Fools Day, I almost didn’t believe them, especially when Jennifer pointed out that their initials spelled out “J/K.” But soon enough I found myself being high-fived by a delightful Delta pilot named Peewee as we prepared for take off. Some days are just made for photo sessions. Last Sunday I spent the last two hours before sunset exploring the grounds around Minnetrista and a nearby soccer field with Jessica and her mama, Phyllis. Jessica is a rockstar of a goalie for her school’s soccer team, so it was only natural that she show off some of her skills.
The sun was just coming up as I started my drive to Greens Fork. The road was quiet with the exception of massive farm machinery that seemed to crawl down the street. One thing was for sure – I was not in the city anymore.
As I turned the corner inside East Main Street Christian Church in Elwood – heading for the small room where Alex would be getting ready I immediately heard laughter and the happy sounds of excited voices. They grew louder with each step that I took and I knew it was going to be a good day.
