Many of my couples opt for garden like locations for their engagement sessions. From the lush trees to blooming flowers, gardens set the tone for romantic and whimsical portraits, which just so happens to be my specialty! So if you are looking for a garden oasis for your session, this blog is for you!
Newfields is by far one of the most popular locations in Indianapolis for engagement sessions and it is easy to see why. Winding paths, beautiful blooms and tall trees create a feeling of privacy and romance. The property is elegant and seems to go on forever! Newfields does charge for a photo pass, but the small fee is totally worth it!
Holcomb Gardens is nestled into the Butler University campus and is a favorite amongst my couples. This location is beautiful year round but it really comes alive in the fall! Bonus: it’s dog friendly – what’s not to love?
For many years, the ruins at Holliday Park were gated off and closed to the public. But thanks to some recent renovations, this park is a whimsical dream! My favorite time of year to shoot at Holliday Park is in the summer when the trees are full and the days are long.
Coxhall Gardens in Carmel, Indiana is a wonderful choice for a location for your engagement session! I love the way the light comes through the willow trees on the far side of the pond. It just doesn’t get any better!
Lakeside Park in Fort Wayne is easily one of the prettiest places I have ever been! The tall white columns and reflecting pools set the tone for classic romance. While this is a public space, it can be rented for private events like the wedding below, so this location might be best saved for weekday engagement sessions.
While Marion can be a bit of a drive from Indianapolis, it is totally worth it! This park is lovingly cared for and it shows! As you stroll through the park, butterflies flutter by and flowers bloom all around you. It really is a special place!
If you’re up for a road trip, Art Park in New Castle is about an hour away from Indianapolis. It’s a small garden, but it’s beauty more than makes up for it’s size! There are so many beautiful features everywhere you look. This gives us tons of opportunities for photos!
