Vickie and Peter’s Crane Bay Wedding in Downtown Indianapolis
Vickie and Peter’s wedding day was easily a favorite of ours! From their church ceremony in Speedway to their Crane Bay wedding reception, everything was relaxed, fun and filled with so much joy! Plus, their wedding was on Halloween which made it extra special!
Vickie prepared for her wedding day at her parents’ lovely Indianapolis home. Halloween decorations welcomed us as we walked up the driveway, including a giant spider! Vickie’s family loves Halloween so the fact that Vickie and Peter were married on Halloween is so perfect!
We spend the morning laughing with Vickie and her bridesmaids as she transformed into a bride! Vickie’s mom helped her into her dress in her former bedroom. This moment was sweet! I loved that it was just the two of them. It gave them time to really soak in this special moment between mother and daughter.
Once Vickie had her beautiful wedding dress on, it was time for a her first look with her dad. And oh.. my heart! It was one of the most sentimental moments! If you are considering sharing a first look with your dad on your wedding day, check out this blog post for some inspiration. Vickie also shared a first look with her bridesmaids which was super cute! Even her sweet nephew got in on the first look fun!
Vickie and Peter’s Ceremony
Soon it was time to head to the church! This was our second time at St. Christopher Catholic Church. We celebrated with Justine and Evan here in the spring and just loved everyone there. So we were delighted to be back!
While Vickie spent time with her bridesmaids upstairs, Peter put the finishing touch on his wedding day look in the basement. He and his groomsmen had fun telling stories from their time singing their way through their years at Purdue which led to plenty of laughter! Finally, Peter’s mom pinned on his boutonniere and it was time the ceremony!
I loved this sweet moment right after Vickie and Peter’s ceremony! There are some moments on wedding days that are so full of joy but yet so fleeting. Therefore capturing them on camera is one of my favorite things!
Bridal Party Photos in Military Park
Following their ceremony, guests headed to The Crane Bay Event Center for cocktail hour while Vickie, Peter and their bridal party made their way to Military Park for bridal party photos! Zach and I had a total blast with this group! As a result we laughed so much and you could tell how much they care about Vickie and Peter! Plus, can you believe this incredible day we scored for Vickie and Peter’s wedding? Look at this stunning light!
Vickie and Peter
Once we were finished with photos with their bridal party, it was time to shift gears and focus just on the newlyweds. Vickie looked incredible in her wedding dress so photographing her bridal beauty portraits was so fun! Plus, I just adore Vickie! I loved the beaded straps on the back of her dress and her long train. Combine that with her breathtaking bouquet from Satin & Stems, Vickie made the picture perfect bride!
Our Best Wedding Day Tip
From the first time I met these two, I knew right away that I was going to absolutely love them! They are so laid back and fun to be around! We are always laughing and having fun when we are with them – like we did during their engagement session! So of course their wedding day was no exception.
Everyone says that your wedding day will go by so fast, and it’s true! Because of this, it’s easy to forget to slow down and savor your wedding day. Vickie and Peter shared a few quiet, still moments together during portraits. I loved that they took some intentional time to soak everything in and be present with one another! We encourage all of our couples to build time like this into their wedding day timeline!
Dancing on Their Wedding Day
One of the first things I learned about Peter was his love for dancing! So it was only right that he share a dance with his beautiful bride on the canal during portraits! So we took a little break from portraits to do exactly that!
As we were finishing portraits on the canal, we bumped into an adorable doggo! Vickie and Peter are also dog lovers like Zach and I, so of course we all had to stop what we were doing and pet this fluffy pup! You know your wedding is the real deal when even dogs stop to congratulate you!
Vickie and Peter’s Crane Bay Wedding Reception
Vickie and Peter’s wedding was my first time at Crane Bay and I was so impressed! The space is so unique and filled with dramatic and interesting lighting. Plus the Crane Bay team is so nice and made sure everything was perfect for Vickie and Peter. I loved that they have a separate space just for the bride and groom to relax with their bridal party before the reception began!
Soon it was time for the reception! Shimmering maroon and navy tablecloths added pops of rich color to the room and pumpkins lined the head table. Incredible floral centerpieces brought cheer to the room and a custom monogram projected on the floor welcomed guests as they entered. But my favorite decoration? The little dog figurine/cake topper that looked just like Vickie and Peter’s sweet pup, Astrid – complete with icing on her nose! And best of all, you can follow along with the adventures of Astrid yourself on Instagram!
Vickie and Peter were surprised by their family with a video of all of their loved ones who could attend their celebration! It was so touching! Next they shared their first dance followed by dances with their parents.
Due to the changes that 2020 sprinkled on weddings and events, Vickie and Peter decided to save their dance floor for their full reception later in 2021. So instead of dancing, they had the most incredible game room set up for their guests to enjoy! Guests played giant connect four, corn hole and hungry hungry hippos. And of course, the family favorite, rummikub! And they did it all while enjoying candy from the candy wall Vickie and Peter set up for everyone. It was Halloween after all!
Congratulations Vickie and Peter! We are so happy for you! Your day was so much fun and we are so thankful we were apart of it! We can’t wait to do it again later this year!
