Kendra and Jacob’s wedding at Swan Lake Resort was our last wedding of our season last year. From impromptu dance parties to emotional first looks and even a few power outages, this windy day was perfect from start to finish!
Kendra and Jacob’s Wedding at Swan Lake Resort
Swan Lake Resort sits nestled on a golf course in Northern Indiana. With friendly staff and a beautiful courtyard, we see why Kendra and Jacob selected it as their wedding venue! With the long drive up from Indianapolis, we opted to stay on property the night before the wedding. When we woke up the next morning, a storm had blown in, bringing with it forty mile per hour winds! But inside the bridal suite? Kendra was all smiles! But that’s the thing about Kendra. She is easily one of the most kind hearted people I’ve ever met in my life and can find the silver lining in anything! So walking into her room and seeing her sharing a dance party with her favorite ladies while the storm raged outside didn’t surprise us in the slightest!

As I mentioned above, Kendra has a heart of gold! And her family truly means the world to her! Prior to the wedding, Kendra shared with me that just weeks before her grandfather had needed immediate medical care. So with out a second thought, despite balancing a tedious school schedule and finalizing wedding plans, Kendra personally drove him over state lines to make sure he received the care he needed. Her sweet grandfather was released from the hospital just hours before the wedding! Kendra shared a very special first look with her grandfather and there was not a dry eye present! Kendra also shared a first look with her dad, which was just as special!

A Dapper Groom
One thing we’ve learned as wedding photographers through the years is that typically in every relationship one person is more outgoing and one is on the quieter side. And that is so true with Kendra and Jacob. Jacob is a man of few words, but when he speaks, he is so intentional. He is kind, easy going and so very in love with Kendra. Their first look was such a special moment, they even decided to read their vows to one another before the ceremony, which was so special to see!

Weathering the Storm
Just before the ceremony was set to begin, the storm outside really started to surge. The high winds forced us to move bridal party portraits and the ceremony inside. With the power flickering, guests gathered inside the warm ballroom at Swan Lake Resort and celebrated together as Kendra and Jacob became husband and wife!

The Reception
Kendra and Jacob danced the night away with their favorite people: Kendra’s sorority sisters, Jacob’s baseball teammates and of course their wonderful families. They were such a joyful group and it was the perfect way to end our 2022 wedding season. Congratulations Kendra and Jacob!
