Zach and I bought our home in December a couple years ago so needless to say, we didn’t decorate much that year. (Check out this blog post about our first few days in our house.) Last year, we were still figuring out how to handle decorating a blue and grey house with our red and gold Christmas decor that we had from our former house. So this year we decided to work towards finding a happy balance for our open concept home at Christmas time.
Growing up, Christmas was full of bright colors, bold decor and a dash of stress. However, Zach and I are big fans of keeping things minimal and easy going. So we decided to decorate the only way we know how: all blue everything. Ok, maybe not everything. We made our own garland out of paper and string for our tree, found gold ornaments at the dollar store and added our love for all things modern with geometric ornaments from Target. We were also delightfully surprised to find some super cute gold trees at Kroger! Add a sprinkle of gold woodland creatures and we are good to go!
Our kitchen island is a major focal point in our home, so we wanted to add some holiday cheer there too! We added a long gold and white runner as well as more gold decor. We finished the look with my beloved Bath and Body Works holiday candles and freshly baked cookies! Our home is now all set for the holidays and we couldn’t be happier!
