welcome to the AMP blog! I'm Ali, a wedding photographer based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Here, I'll be sharing love stories, adventures with my amazing husband and a little bit about what life looks like when you follow your dreams!
Three years ago this week I left my full time 9-5 job to pursue photography full time. What a ride it’s been! There isn’t a day that goes by that I am not incredibly thankful that I get to follow my dreams. But what I am most thankful for, are my incredible clients, friends and family that support and encourage me. It still blows my mind that since I dared to take the leap into the unknown I have found only incredible relationships along my path. I know with out any doubt that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for those clients who have trusted me to capture their wedding day and invited me into their family on their best day ever. It means the world to me.
Building a full time wedding photography career is not for the faint of heart, I can promise you that. While I truly feel that I have the best job in the world, it doesn’t come with out a lot of hard work, tears and grit. There are days when it seems like some goals are unreachable and all you hear is the word “no.” There are days when you watch others succeed while you stumble. There are days where people say hurtful things and there are days where you wonder how you will tackle it all.
But over time, you learn to keep trying when you hear the word no because by now you know that this just means a better opportunity is around the corner. You learn to stop caring what everyone else is doing because comparison really is the thief of joy. You start to understand that hurtful words only effect you if you let them, and you start to see a strength in yourself that is fully capable of tackling anything that comes your way.
And as for me, that strength has been nurtured by each and every person that has believed in me, supported me and cheered me on. It helps me to feel encouraged when setbacks come, as they always do, and helps me shine my brightest as I follow my dreams. So as I celebrate my third anniversary of pursuing photography full time, I just want to say thank you. I wouldn’t be where I am with out each of you.
Special thanks to my friends Kaylee Creighton Photography for the photos and Moriah Justin for doing my makeup!
