Living in Indiana it is not uncommon for the weather to be rainy and cold during the fall. However each year there is that one perfect late fall day that has the beautiful autumn weather. The sun shines all day, there is a light breeze and every now and then leaves will fall gently from the gold and crimson trees. The day of Katie and Jacob’s wedding was that day this year.
Southern Indiana is a true gem. From the rolling hills and gorgeous fall foliage, it’s something that every Hoosier raves about – and with good reason. Nestled somewhere in those hills is Sycamore Farm Bloomington. This former horse barn has been turned into the perfect space for a wedding! Plus, there are sweet horses and donkeys on the property, which made this animal lover super excited! (And yes, I pet them all!)
Katie got ready at a nearby hotel with her bridesmaids and flower girl, Shayla. Fun music filled the room as the girls laughed and told jokes. It was the best morning! After hair and makeup, Katie headed to Sycamore Farm to put on her dress with her mom, Lisa, by her side! Jacob also got ready at the same hotel in a room just down the hall. He enjoyed laughing and joking around with his favorite guys and even enjoyed a shot of whiskey, a gift from his bride. While Jacob finished up back at the hotel, Katie shared a first look with her dad. After taking some photos, I stood back with a couple of Katie’s bridesmaids and held back tears as Katie and her dad hugged. Maybe it’s because I’m super close with my own dad, but father daughter first looks always get me! After her dad went back inside the barn, Katie stayed behind for some bridal portraits. One of my favorite parts of Katie’s bridal look (besides that STUNNING Justin Alexander dress) was that she wore her mother’s veil. How special is that? Next up Katie spent some time with her bridesmaids before feeding apples to the donkeys and horses. (Seriously.. bonus points to any bride that has cute animals at her wedding – I loved it!) Jacob arrived shortly after, smiling ear to ear. His sweet mama, Mary, pinned his boutonnière on his lapel before Jacob headed back outside for some photos with his groomsmen. What a group! These guys were great and kept Jacob laughing!
Finally, it was time for the ceremony which was full of some silly moments and lots of sweet ones – it was perfect! Guests laughed and some even cried tears of happiness. And the way Katie grinned when Jacob read his vows to her – it was pure magic! But that’s the thing about Katie and Jacob. They are pretty awesome individually, but when they are together they radiate happiness and constantly make one another laugh. They support each others’ dreams and fiercely cheer one another on. (Except for when there is a Ball State vs Purdue situation) Together, they are infinite.
The rest of the evening was just as fabulous. Hannah from Design the Day Events did a great job creating a lovely reception space – complete with twinkling lanterns and rose petals. And speaking of petals – Chris and Rick from The Rose Connection did a phenomenal job with the florals! Everywhere you looked through out the day you could find beautiful roses and lillies in warm red tones and cheerful pinks. My favorite was the cascading centerpiece on Katie and Jacob’s head table. And the florals paired perfectly with the the elegant cake by Bake Me a Cake Etc. To add the finishing touch, Colten of Boomerz DJ provided colorful uplighting as well as awesome music! Talk about a dream team!
Following their entrance and first dance, Katie surprised Jacob with a song. This is a family tradition – her mom sang to her dad at her wedding, so it was extra sweet! Next they cut their cake – which resulted in both of them wearing it. It was awesome! Speeches came next along with special dances. Soon after that, the dance floor was opened and the party really got going! Guests favorites included Wanna Be, The Macarena, We Are Family and of course… the Wobble. Jacob even had a surprise of his own up his sleeve. Literally! Be sure to take a look at the photos of the garter toss to see what I mean! It was hilarious!
To end the evening, Katie and Jacob shared one final dance alone in their venue dancing to Tightrope from The Greatest Showman before making their grand sparkler exit. It was such a great way to end such a perfect day!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Clemons! The AMP team had so much fun with you on your wedding day! I hope you are soaking in all of that gorgeous Cancun sun!
Mountains and valleys, and all that will come in between
Desert and ocean
You pulled me in and together we’re lost in a dream
Always in motion
So I risk it all just to be with you
And I risk it all for this life we choose
