welcome to the AMP blog! I'm Ali, a wedding photographer based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Here, I'll be sharing love stories, adventures with my amazing husband and a little bit about what life looks like when you follow your dreams!
As you walk through the doors of Ironworks Hotel you are immediately greeted by beautiful natural light that spills in from all of the giant windows through out the building. An impressive staircase leads you upstairs to a stunning lobby filled with Edison bulbs, leather couches and brick walls. It is a beautiful place and it was the perfect location for Samantha to get ready on her wedding day!
As the girls wrapped up with hair and makeup, laughter filled the room. Just before it was time for Sam to put on her dress, her sister in law delivered a special gift from Travis. Everyone gathered around to watch as Sam unwrapped the most beautiful rose gold and diamond necklace, the perfect gift from her groom.
Sam’s sister, Phi, helped her into her dress and made her sure her veil was placed just right and her sweet mama helped her add the finishing touches. Before we knew it, Sam had transformed into a stunning bride right before our eyes!
Next all the ladies headed outside to take a quick lap around Ironworks Hotel for some photos. What I loved about this group of girls was that they were elegant and classic in their glamorous gowns, all in shades of pink and rose gold, but they were also up for having some fun! Love it! After the girls headed inside, Sam posed for her bridal portraits and boy, did she nail it! She is always so beautiful, but it was so amazing to see her as a bride!
After finishing up Sam’s portraits, Zach and I headed to the wedding venue, the Northside Knights of Columbus to meet up with Travis as he got ready for the big day. One thing that was really special about their wedding day, was that Travis, his mother and his brother all wore special pins to honor his late grandfather. Each pin carried with it so many memories of his life, even his trademark favorite beer. It was so sweet and a wonderful way to pay tribute to someone so special in their lives.
Finally it was time for the ceremony to begin! Now before I go any further, I need to explain a little bit about Sam and Travis. These two are SO in love. I saw it on Sam’s face the first time I met her as she sat across from me at Starbucks with her mom during our first meeting. She absolutely lit up when talking about Travis. I saw it again during their engagement session in the way that Travis loves to make her laugh, and reached for her hand as we walked along between photos. They are best friends and they are so incredibly in tune with one another. They really are a perfect match.
As Sam’s amazing mom, Kim, walked her down the aisle towards Travis, his first look at his bride was full of emotion. It was absolutely beautiful. The rest of the ceremony was just as lovely. Travis even calculated the number of days until their 50th anniversary and invited everyone in the room back to that very spot for a vowel renewal on that date. It was easily one of the most incredible ceremonies I have ever seen!
After some family portraits, it was party time! Back when we first sat down to talk about the wedding, Sam and Kim had told me about the romantic oasis they wanted to create for the reception and I have to say, it was exactly as they described! All the details were so carefully and tastefully designed, the room was stunning! After their entrance, Sam and Travis shared their first dance, followed by dancing with their mothers that left us all wiping our eyes. After maid of honor, Phi, gave a beautiful and heartfelt speech, Travis’s brother and best man, Chris, gave his. He had actually made a slide show and kept the jokes coming. The whole room was filled with laughter! And the fun didn’t stop there! Next Sam and Travis played the shoe game, which was tons of fun! Next up it was time to cut the cake. Sam and Travis covered all the bases, from sweet to silly as guests watched them cut their cake.
Around sunset, Sam and Travis joined me outside for their wedding portraits! The sunlight spilled through the trees and created the most beautiful setting.
Once back in side, guests enjoyed the bouquet and garter toss and tons of fun dancing. It was such a great night! Everyone snacked on donuts and danced the night away to songs like Friends In Low Places and Teach Me How to Dougie to name a couple. What a blast! Finally, Sam and Travis had their grand sparkler exit as they headed off for their Las Vegas honeymoon! Hooray!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Hanson
