Ralston’s and Downtown Indy Engagement Session | Indianapolis, Indiana | Lauren + Jim

Ralston’s and Downtown Indy Engagement Session | Indianapolis, Indiana Lauren + Jim

There’s a song by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros called “Home” that occasionally weaves its way through my editing playlist. One of the lines in the song is “home is wherever I’m with you.” I don’t think I’ve met a couple that this describes more than Lauren and Jim.

Lauren is from Missouri and Jim grew up in Ohio. But somewhere along the way, their lives brought each of them to Indiana. Little did they know that their soul mate was somewhere in their new city and that before they knew it, they’d be embarking on tons of new adventures together. These two are always on the go, and in fact they are probably off on a trip to another country as I type this. But no matter where life takes them, they are home when they are together. And if you’ve spent any amount of time around Lauren and Jim, you know this to be true.

We started their engagement session off at Ralston’s – the place where they shared their first date. Ralston’s made perfect sense, after all it is named after Alexander Ralston, the man who designed the layout for the city of Indianapolis and Lauren and Jim love Indy! Even the Ralston’s logo pays tribute to the layout of the city if you look close enough!

After Lauren and Jim shared a drink on the Patio of Ralston’s, we headed to the canal to take in some other amazing Indianapolis sites. As we walked we stopped and took photos. I was even able to get a photo of Lauren’s incredible engagement ring. What I love about her ring is that the diamond came from a pendant necklace that has been in Jim’s family for years. How special is that?

One of Lauren’s favorite things on earth are donuts! So Lauren and Jim brought a donut, complete with their wedding date written in icing across the top. These two know how to let go and just have fun and I so love that about them. Their shared laughter is absolutely contagious and Zach and I loved every second of their session – even though it was the coldest day of the year so far. And let me tell you, we soaked up every last second of sunlight the day gave us, laughing all the while.

Lauren and Jim’s wedding day will be here before we know it! I am so excited to share in their joy along side them and their awesome wedding planner, Hannah of Design the Day Events. We are going to have so much fun! And who knows? Maybe there will be more donuts!
